Game Feedback: Stage 2

Hello good Discedians! Hope you're all having a good day. This is the second part of the regular feedback post. Please make sure that you read this post in full, as it has some extremely important information that concerns everyone in the game. While it's not required to comment with reasoning, we greatly appreciate any input that may be involved.

THIS POST IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE IT.

This coming November, Discedo will be celebrating its fifth year anniversary. Some of you may already know that, others may not. It's been a HELL of a six years too with lots of great events, player plots, CR, and interactions. Old man Discedo really is an old man, and has seen many players come, go, and come back again because my golly who doesn't love this place?? We've had our hardships too, but we pulled through like complete troopers and we, as the current mod team, love you all dearly for being as fantastic as you've all been.

But, as we all know, all good things must come to an end in order to make way for other, equally fantastic things to continue to pave the road of, well, everything. Guess you guys can guess where this is heading at this point right?

Unfortunately, the current mod team have all reached a point in our lives which running a full blown DWRP is becoming too difficult for us to handle. Many of us are about to be wrapped into some very BIG changes in our lives, making modding a game possible. While we discussed the possibility of doing a mod overhaul, truth be told, the conclusion ended up being that Discedo's storyline has finally reached its final chapter. DON'T PANIC, we have choices for you guys, and as per usual, what happens with the game is completely up to you guys.

After discussing the issues, the mod team narrowed it down to a few choices which you guys can talk out and vote upon, so read carefully, think it over, and come back with your decisions.

» Game over
Self explanatory. Discedo will take the typical end route. The game will run as normal for some months with regular events in place before the final event, which will remain a SURPRISE until the very end (oh my o: ). After the final event, the game will be finished, and the moderators will no longer work on the game.

» Dressing Room
If it is the case that Discedo doesn't wish for the game to take a complete end, the game will switch over to Dressing Room format. Occasionally, say once a month, meme-esque events will be offered for two to three weeks, and players are welcome jump on board and goof around with each other. Many of the things typical of a game will cease to exist, such as regular plotting memes, HMD, and applications. If the DressingRoom route is something we take, Maresuke will take over as full time mod of the DR.

At present, there are still a LOT of details that need to be hashed out, on your end AND on ours, but we didn't want to move forward without having discussion with the playerbase. If the DressingRoom route is taken, there may be an extra feedback post to cover what else that may entail.

To those of you who are concerned about time frames you have to work with, Discedo will cease to be a full-blown game within two to four months. Later we'll have a more exact date, as both options could result in different time spans to work within.

Again, thank you everyone for all that you've been, we really appreciate all of you, and await your thoughts and ideas about the future of Discedo.

Activity Check
»Due to the current game pace AC can be excessively hard to meet and the requirements just aren't in sync with the present ability of the game.

Character Arrivals
»Sending new characters to Dissimulo, but not Spero is unfair to those characters currently in Spero. If Spero will no longer be receiving new characters Dissimulo shouldn't as well. Instead all characters should arrive in Discedo and branch out to the other two cities at their own choosing.

In addition we have a poll. We'd like everyone's opinion on what type of event to have for Halloween. The last few Halloweens have been rather cheery ones with candy and a few silly tricks so we were planning for something more scary, but as noted on HMD many people have been wanting a lighter event for the next event.

**WHEN VOTING IN THE POLL PLEASE USE YOUR DISCEDO JOURNAL, IF YOU USE A NON-GAME JOURNAL WE WILL AUTOMATICALLY DISCOUNT YOUR VOTE. WE WILL ALSO DISCOUNT EXTRA VOTES IF YOU VOTE WITH MULTIPLE JOURNALS PLEASE ONLY VOTE WITH ONE.**

Sorry for the delay! One of the things we have to do before we can offer the forum is discuss the feedback and suggestions given ourselves, which took longer than anticipated. We'll be organizing this by topic given, with our thoughts on how to deal with/change the item underneath. Players should feel free to discuss and offer suggestions and ideas related to these, and we'll then compile everything into a plan for the future.

We didn't get too many suggestions, so hopefully this will be a pretty simple task! Please read, even if you don't contribute! In no particular order:

Alright folks, it’s time for the feedback post!

It’s easy! All you have to do is leave a comment here with your constructive criticism. Anon is on, comments are screened, and your privacy is ensured. Please feel free to say anything you think!

A week from now, most likely on Saturday, we’ll compile all the feedback we receive into a list for everyone to see, not citing who wrote what of course. Then we’ll have an open forum for a few days-- people can make suggestions as to what to do to fix what’s been brought up, give comments, and et cetera. After that, we’ll form an agenda and begin to make necessary changes!

Simple, right? Remember, this relies heavily on getting feedback, so we’re counting on you guys!

Thanks for your time!

First off, sorry this is so late! I was aiming to get it up last Sunday, but as you may or may not know we've all been a bit busy with life as of late. Either way, here is phase three at last! If you need any clarification or you want to further discuss something with us, please don't hesitate to comment!

Follow the cut! )

Thanks for bearing with us through this, guys. It's been really good and we're happy with the way it's wrapping itself up!

Also, mod apps should be going up within a week or so, so keep an eye out for that!

Okay, I literally am including everything you guys brought up, because I didn't want anyone to get left behind! The only thing I did leave out was personal issues with mods, which we are working on we swear.

Before I begin, I just want to remind you to be polite when discussing these topics with your fellow players! Anonymous is enabled, but we don't like to see it as an excuse to be rude!

Alphabetical order, shall we? )

So, Discedo, it's time once more for the FEEDBACK FORUM, aka the Discedo Wishlist.

What would you like to see in Discedo in the future? What things need adjustments now? What things are going well? Anything at all that you want to say about Discedo, how it's run, how it's going, the chat, the events - anything - then leave a comment here. It's constructive, so no outright bashing certain aspects of the game, please. We really want to help make Discedo a better place, and player feedback is the best way to go about this. Otherwise, go for it!

For those that weren't here last time, there are three main posts that accompany the FEEDBACK FORUM:

ONE. Screened post (this one) to bring the issues up in.

TWO. Open, unscreened post where the issues are listed by the moderators, and people give their opinions on them/suggestions on how to improve them. I'm aiming to get that up a week from today, but that may change depending on the momentum and frequency of the comments on this post. There might be an additional step after this one (a step two point five, if you will) if things aren't properly settled.

THREE. Wrap up post where the mods list the solutions that have been decided on, and everyone gets cake.

This is step ONE, the listing phase. All comments are screened, IP logging off, anon on. You can comment either logged in, or anonymous if you don't feel comfortable with it. (Logged in is easier, though, in case the mods need to get more details from you). If a question about the overall mechanics of the feedback process comes up, it'll be answered and left unscreened if I feel it'll help other people better understand it as well.

Enjoy.

Okay. As a result from the wishlist post, we have a number of issues to bring up. Again, this is going to be a post open for people to discuss things, but I have to stress that this must be done RATIONALLY. No pointing fingers. We need suggestions for how to fix things, and make them better than they currently are within the game.

Okay I am going to stop spamming the community, I swear. But there have been a number of suggestions made by some players in the police force post that need to be discussed by EVERYONE, and I'm looking for as much input on that as possible.

There's been a lot of ideas thrown around in Doc's post on the OOC, but there are a few that need a bit more fleshing out and discussion. So I'm going to write the suggestions here, and then everyone is free to offer opinions. A LOT of these are going to be based on majority vote/opinion, so if you want to have a say, now's the time to do it. Once we've got a more general idea on what people want, there will probably be a vote on it to finalise things. Even if you're not in the police force/x-force/have a lawbreaker character, this will end up affecting everyone.

The first is the idea of some kind of loose law system. There are at least five lawyers within the city, and most of their players have expressed interest in holding trials-- much like they do in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, if you're familiar with the series. Of course, it wouldn't be as drawn out-- it would have to be a short trial in order to be efficient enough to fit the game-- but what do people think about a law system? It would mean that laws for the city WOULD have to be drawn up, but not strict enough to limit people's enjoyment in the game too much. The laws would probably revolve mostly around crimes, particularly murders (since they seem to be happening rather frequently, ahah).

The second is the communication issues concerning offing people. Most of the time when murders and the like happen, everyone is caught off guard except for the people involved, and it can lead to the police force not knowing what to do/how to respond. Therefore, one way to curb this would be that everyone planning to kill someone talk to the moderators or someone that's in the police force, so that they have prior knowledge of what is going to happen so that they can organise people to respond to it ahead of time. This doesn't mean that people will need approval to murder people or go off and do a crime-- it's just so that the police force actually get a chance to become involved where they should be. And hey, maybe people can talk to the force about attempting to murder someone, but the force save the day. Who knows.

The third is punishment for people. At the moment, people's punishment is limited to: a slap on the wrist, death, or getting thrown into jail. However, some of the suggestions have been: the chip being put back in, and then the character is stuck in jail for a maximum of four or so weeks, or that the character is stuck doing "community service" such as helping rebuild the city.  Whatever punishment is chosen would of course have to be discussed with the player of the offending character. But if people don't mind this idea, more ideas for punishment are also welcomed.

In addition to all of this rambling, there's also been the idea of "police training," so to speak. But it would be open for anyone that's willing to learn how to fight. Is there anyone who WOULD be interested in learning or teaching this? Or is there anyone that currently does?

SO YEAH that is all, for now. Thoughts are welcomed!
