Pirate Group:

Pirates and gentlemen, we hope you're enjoying your stay in Spero, now that you're actually there! But the fun times aren't quite over yet, so we have some more goodies for you.

First, the Observatory. )

Outside of the City )

The Subway, leaving Spero. This part is EXTRA-important! )

You'll have up until the 18th to explore the entirety of Spero, and it's up to you guys when you want to leave, whether it's the 18th or before that. The encounter with Spero's natives will be the very last thing to happen within the city.

There will be a post made shortly in [livejournal.com profile] discedo_ooc for plotting purposes! We're leaving it up to you guys to choose who gets involved with the Spero natives, what you do with them, who takes what home, all of that; all of those will be up for discussion in the post. I'll link that OOC post in this one once it goes up!
OOC plotting post!

For one last resource, we have a rough map of the area of Spero they will be able to explore. You can find it here! The X's on the map are impassable areas.

Since this post ended up being so long, the in-city plot will be getting its own post, which will be going up shortly!

Back in the City:
And now, we return to our regularly scheduled Discedo!

With all those pirates gone on their ship, it’s been a little quiet. Actually kinda peaceful. The sun has come out and the weather is improving, there’s even, dare I say it, a little bit of greenery pushing up from the cracking pavement. Hopes are rising. The people are happy.

And then, a scream.

Simultaneously from each of the communicators, an unearthly howl emits from the speakers. It echos in hallways and rooms and against the buildings, resonating in the streets. A strange, foggy blackness crawls into the screen. As the cacophony dies down, it is replaced by an eerie, low humming sound.

Those who see, those who hear… There is a foreboding presence in their hearts. Sadness. Quiet. Apathy. Unsettling. And maybe, just maybe, a want to end it all.

So what caused this looming darkness? To be put simply, and completely literally: there’s a ghost in this system. Something weakened just enough to let it in. And though we’re not going to say exactly how this happened yet, we can say for sure that the scientists have certainly screwed up this time.

A quick and easy to follow summary of this event:

. A transmission of a scream. Blackness, and humming. Every communicator in Discedo will pick this up.

. Your character can be afflicted with one of the following symptoms:
.Apathy syndrome. Your character will lose interest, to whatever degree you desire. Anything from mild depression to an almost comatose state; it’s up to you.
.Canon hallucinations. In their mind, they see, speak to and even interact with characters or places from their canon. The range of these hallucinations is up to you, whether they're simply faint flickers of someone they know or a full world-changing hallucination around them.
.Inclination to self harm, or other dangerous compulsions. In their heads echoes a small and convincing voice, “die, die, die.” Again, the degree of the symptom is up to you.
.Something of your choosing. Comment below and we’ll see if it’s viable or not, and give permission to go on with the idea.
.And lastly… Nothing. Some characters will be completely unaffected.

And that’s important. In order to stop this thing (Something the citizens of Discedo are going to be involved in) some of the populace will need to stay sane, especially those with the ability to fight.

These symptoms begin when the scream is heard on April 18th, and they start off mildly, gradually increasing until they're as strong as you want them to be for your characters. They'll be able to be calmed down, to an extent, by the people around them. The symptoms will last for around 4-5 days, and more info as to exactly why this is happening will be revealed as time goes on! We'll be giving you more information on how to stop all of this, as well as a reminder about the symptoms, on the 18th when everything begins, so stay tuned! Let us know if you have questions, and have fun!

Since the pirates are all out to sea, they'll be unaffected by this part of the plot. They may catch a bit of static on their communicators, but otherwise they won't be caught up in all this.

Additionally, we're gonna be closing applications on Friday, April 16th for three weeks. What this means is that all apps posted (in their entirety, meaning every part posted) before Friday at 12:01 AM Eastern Time will be reviewed, and everything posted after that will be reviewed on May 9th. Reserves will be open (and automatically extended to the 9th) and apps can still be posted after the 16th, but they won't be reviewed.
