1. first day
Catch up with old friends, brave new teachers, fight your way through the sea of students, and hope you're in the right classroom. Oh, you're the new kid. Well, that's okay as long as you've got more than enough summer vacation anecdotes to fill ten pages of Times New Roman size 12, single-spaced.

2. first period
You're gonna be late! Or are you already there? Class hasn't started just yet, so chat it up or copy your classmate's homework before the teacher gets here.

3. lesson proper
You're probably diligently taking notes, looking out the window daydreaming or reciting in class, much to your teacher's delight - or dismay. Try not to be too obvious when counting down the minutes and pass that note as discreetly as possible.

4. faculty
Have a bone to pick with your terror math teacher. A crush on the cute chemistry teacher? There might be something you want to ask your homeroom teacher about. In any case, you plan on seeing a faculty member today. Or maybe they plan on seeing you!

5. lunch break
Man, you are starving. Hopefully, today's menu has something good. If the crowded cafeteria's not your thing, try the rooftop.

6. hooky
One of you is skipping class. You should try talking them out of it if that's your thing.

7. detention
What on earth did you do to get this? Oh well. Detention can't be that bad when you've got all these very nice, approachable model students around to talk to.

[ Waiting for Suigetsu is a little like waiting for his mysterious and unexpectedly intelligent science teacher, as he did every time he had the class. Not to mention the guy always wore a surgeon's mask. What a strange guy. ]

Late. [ Let's just get that accusation out of the way to start off. ] I almost left without you. Come on. [ And already he's on the move. Suigetsu could get a coffee at the mall if he's in such great need of a pick-me-up. ]

Oh whatever, Sasuke, you woulda waited for like, an hour. [ Suigetsu says, waving dismissively.

He follows along of course, rubbing at an eye. ] Naaah, I went downtown again. I don't know why I let Kisame talk me into it. It's fucking weird, for one thing.

'Cause he obviously is in love with Itachi. Then he drills me for questions about our brothers! Ugh, fuck, I'm exhausted.

[ Throwing his hands behind his head, Suigetsu wrinkles his nose. ] Senpai's got some kinda thing for pretty, young men. He's like, old though. I think he's outta university. So it's gross.

Then practice with me more often instead of with him. You talking to him isn't something that I like. [ And nothing is going to stop Sasuke from complaining when he wants to. They share that.

Mangetsu isn't my responsibility. [ And yet... ] I'll talk to Itachi about it but I'm not promising anything to you. It's a favor for your sake. [ Having a favor over him wouldn't be a bad thing. He's always considering other ways to encourage Suigetsu with his schooling; it's clear which of them is more rebellious in that sense. ] Zabuza is also not my concern.

They are not walking the entire way though, it's far too lengthy of a trip. So he slows by a bus stop, pocketing his hands. ] Oi oi, but I don't owe you anything, Sasuke -- it's not for my benefit, it's for Mangetsu's!

Addressing Suigetsu's first few questions is something Sasuke chooses not to do for his own personal reasons. Of course they're close, they've been close for a while, but recently... Itachi's been asking him a lot of questions about his relationship with Suigetsu. As if he needs the ideas in his head. ] We'll end up wasting just as much time waiting for this bus as we would by choosing to walk. [ Another noise of displeasure is carefully suppressed as Sasuke removes his cellphone, checking messages to pass the time.

Ten voicemails since yesterday, four from a certain pushy blond alone. His expression darkens momentarily. That stubborn waste of space... Two more from the headmaster of their school, a gaunt man with long oily black hair; he and Suigetsu had both had unpleasant run-ins with the man but lately he'd been pushier about trying to get Sasuke to join some school team or another. What a hassle. Three more are deleted immediately: all are from female classmates of theirs, Karin included. As if her being Naruto's cousin wasn't enough reason to avoid her... che.

The last message -- and the only one that he determines is worthy of listening to immediately -- is from Itachi. Sasuke raises the phone to his ear and blocks out any commentary that Suigetsu might choose to make at that particular moment. Several seconds pass before he lowers the phone again, already beginning to type out a text in response to it. ] My mother is sick with something. We're ordering for dinner and Itachi wants to know what I'm interested in. [ The explanation is uncharacteristically provided before his companion can begin to pry. Somehow he can just sense the question before it comes.

What he wants is marinated tofu, and yet a latex allergy gets in the way of that craving. It's no wonder it's easy for him to watch his diet when the consequences of not doing so might include a trip to the hospital or an emergency epinephrine shot. He'd had to have Suigetsu help give him one half a year ago after an encounter with a rogue chestnut -- mixed nuts be damned -- had left him nearly unable to breathe.

Embarrassing. He still has to keep the syringes on hand. ]
