Catch up with old friends, brave new teachers, fight your way through the sea of students, and hope you're in the right classroom. Oh, you're the new kid. Well, that's okay as long as you've got more than enough summer vacation anecdotes to fill ten pages of Times New Roman size 12, single-spaced.

2. first period
You're gonna be late! Or are you already there? Class hasn't started just yet, so chat it up or copy your classmate's homework before the teacher gets here.

3. lesson proper
You're probably diligently taking notes, looking out the window daydreaming or reciting in class, much to your teacher's delight - or dismay. Try not to be too obvious when counting down the minutes and pass that note as discreetly as possible.

4. faculty
Have a bone to pick with your terror math teacher. A crush on the cute chemistry teacher? There might be something you want to ask your homeroom teacher about. In any case, you plan on seeing a faculty member today. Or maybe they plan on seeing you!

5. lunch break
Man, you are starving. Hopefully, today's menu has something good. If the crowded cafeteria's not your thing, try the rooftop.

6. hooky
One of you is skipping class. You should try talking them out of it if that's your thing.

7. detention
What on earth did you do to get this? Oh well. Detention can't be that bad when you've got all these very nice, approachable model students around to talk to.

Baseball, basketball, dodgeball - no matter the sport, just remember: you are the star. It's you. At least, you hope it is.

It helps me in reviewing old topics. It doesn't mean I'm a patient or impatient person. [ Sasuke continues to walk with him, in no way struggling to keep up. ]

It isn't a problem. I understand the need to help other home room classes. [ Not that understanding really goes all that far. ]

Actually, there is... one thing! They're doing a performance of Othello at the Black Box on Satuday and I need to do a report on it for the school paper to raise awareness of the Arts in the area. I ended up with an extra ticket, so I figured someone like yourself might have interest in something like that.

I mean... it's only an offer. I can always ask someone else, but you know how it is. Hierarchies of inquiry.

... A play? [ To him it's strange to be receiving an invitation in the first place, though he doesn't question it excessively. Normally it's just women.

Too many of them. ] I'd need to know the time for something like that. My schedule is busy.

Seven, I think?

Hm. It sounds reasonable. I'll look into it.

If you can ascertain that, give me a call tonight. I still have a lot of work to do here, but by the time you're finished I'll be available.

((A light chuckle.)) Thank you. Enjoy your evening. ((His head picks up, smiling again at him.))

[ Despite the barrage of to-do list items bouncing around in his mind, Sasuke takes the time to look back. Che. It's not his concern, surely... He's not working on this stand for the festival.

When he returns home later, however, he thinks of Clive again. A cursory review of his schedule reveals what he already knows; a Saturday evening would be manageable for him after all. The text is typed up and sent: ]

This Saturday. It will be fine.

[abstruse]

((Alone at a dinner table Clive sits, his soup in front of him with naught more than a few sips in it and cold. When he feels his phone vibrate, part of him honestly does hope it's a phone call. Anything to break the usual silence of his house.

But he's regardless glad to see the text. A smile crosses his lips.))

Excellent. Do you need me to pick you up?

[ Sasuke, on the other hand, is hunched over a desk cluttered with books and notes. The chime of his phone briefly interrupts his thought process and he's surprised at the quick response. ]

It won't be necessary. It's not far.

[abstruse]

Good, then. I'll see you there.

((He sets the phone down, not expecting much of a reply after that. Holding conversations over text is silly. Consequently, the night continues in silence. It was a long day, and he was a tired man. In a few short days he would be a little more content with his loneliness. Part of him is surprised as much as he is pleased that Sasuke had accepted the offer.



Clive arrives substantially early to the play, needing to pick up the tickets for them both before Sasuke arrived. He wouldn't want to keep his.. well, "friend" waiting. He wouldn't denote him otherwise, unless certain things came to light, but as such they remained obscure. He's in a dark brown trenchcoat and dawning a brown cap; very newspaper journalist-esque, something he did only to humour himself. When he sees Sasuke, he smiles.))

Ah! Cheerio, Sasuke. Looking fine as ever, I see!
