Pet Regain Plot

There's plot afoot! As seen by the latest broadcast by the Discedo Channel 8 News, Kain wants some entertainment and she's willing to trade all of you to get it.

This plot will be running differently than usual. So bear with us as we do some a-splainin'.

First: The Plot

Kain wants characters to explore a location not seen by characters before. In return she's willing to give characters some "pets" she's recently acquired, some of them quite familiar to characters. Located not far from Dissimulo it'll take characters a day walking to get there, five hours if they're riding. Of course if they run into monster trouble things could take a little longer...

Aside from cougars, poisonous toads and angry pandas characters will also encounter talking trees once they enter the forest. The trees don't have much beyond insults to say, but if you make them angry... Watch out for incoming apples, they might just enact an unpeelable revenge.

At the end of their day trip characters will find... a quaint little paper factory on the river amidst the woods. What could be in such a place?


Second: The Mechanics
»This is an opt-in plot. Characters do not have to participate. If you don't want to simply don't sign your character up. There will be more game wide plot within the next few weeks so don't feel this will be your only chance for plot this month.

»This is not a mod guided plot. We will not be keeping a schedule for this plot or posting any logs. This plot will run entirely on player initiative. The only thing we will do is once we've been notified by players that a group of characters has set out for the paper factory (the usual methods work though we strongly suggest sending a PM to coniurati just to make sure we see it) we'll put up another post with information on what can be found at the paper factory. And then once the plot has been completed by players (i.e. an item from the factory has been left in the museum) we'll do another post for handing out pets.

»Players have 2 weeks in which to ICly organize their characters into a group and go out to this paper factory, return and leave an item (it can be anything) from the factory in the Discedo Museum. If this hasn't been done by 12:01am February 2nd Kain will make a post expressing her disappointment and no pets will be handed out. Other than that there'll be no consequences. Again this is an optional plot.

»At the end of the event we will make a post for players who participated to claim pets. You will be required to link 1 thread with at least 3 comments from your character from the event. Linked threads must be from when the character was on the road to or from the factory or at the factory itself. As such action or log threads will be the easiest though we'll also take network threads as long as it's clear the character was not in any of the cities during the thread. Basically your character signing up ICly is not enough to earn a pet, you must actually participate in the plot.

If you can't this time don't worry there'll be more chances in the future!

»Finally each character who participates gets 1 pet and they can be one of the following:
A) A pet your character had at some point in canon
B) A pet someone else had in your character's canon (if the owner of that pet is actually in the game verify that it's alright with the player before claiming it)
C) A generic pet from another canon. Examples would be chocobos, Earth animals (cats, dogs, turtles, alligators, giraffes, just make sure it's something that can be a pet, we're not going to give you a great white shark), pokémon (pokéball included), haros and so on

Can she get her back anyway and just be very disappointed about being ripped off until she gets her chip out? Ok this is complicated, but in Yami no Matsuei, a shinigami named Hisoka is given for a spirit companion a cactus named Riko that speaks Spanish.

I would like Eric to have Riko. He's in a little pot with a one cent price tag sticker that he jumps around on, and wears a cowboy hat.

Hungary canonically has dogs but we don't really see them or know much about them, so I think I'll give her a pokemon instead. Specifically a Houndour. \o/

Normally he wouldn't be getting involved in such things with New Years coming up, but I could go ahead and say he's interested by this broadcast and believes that maybe he'll remember something if he goes on this trip. Plus it would make an interesting New Years.
