On that we will disagree. I have lived far too long and seen too much to blindly accept the sovereignty used by the nobility as a false claim for power. A king does not create a nation. A people give rise to a leader and then a nation is born; I am France, and without France you have no lineage, no citizens or land; no power of which to speak.

And let us not forget that should the king die, should there be no king, the nation still stands. It is the identity of the land and its people that give rise to us, our economies, our states and leaders. We are a product of our citizens standing together as one. We are those who live centuries before their leaders and long after their bones have turned to dust.

You are the helm, Majesty, that steers the ship, which is the people. I am the compass, lasting longer than the crew, longer than the rudder which can be destroyed, can decay. I am France, tied forever and always to my people, my lands, my economy, my culture. You are only one passing thing, one passing moment that occurs after many and many will proceed you.

These things, Your Majesty, I humbly suggest you consider them.
